AE Machines, an EnterpriseWorks startup company, is a finalist in the Fourth Revolution Awards under the category "Product Design of the Year."

The product that was nominated, the AE Machine's Design Tool, helps to make robotic automation accessible to small-batch manufacturers by empowering manufacturers to program and reprogram. The Design Tool is helpful because it makes it so that manufacturers do not have to rely on overly expensive engineering teams. It also makes it so that users do not have to know coding or hardware languages to program and create automatic cells.

September 20, 2017: Anheuser-Busch InBev Lab and Agrible, Inc., both located in the Research Park, are partnering up. The goal of the partnership is to improve barley production while simultaneously minimizing environmental impact. This partnership will make it easier for farmers around the world to access better data and predictive analytics on crop management and climate effects.

Agrible is an AgTech startup that began here at the Research Park and is aiming for better and more productive crop production while working toward the goal of a sustainable food supply for the future. It supplies products to growers worldwide that help them access better data and run farms more efficiently.

AB InBev is the largest brewer and user of malt barley in the world. It creates products like SmartBay, a platform and incubator that leverages data and technology to better help growers worldwide solve challenges to improve productivity and environmental performance.

The companies have partnered up before. In 2016, the two joined forces on project that worked to forcast barley yield and quality factors through better crop modeling and predictive analytics for American farmers. This project soon went international.

Now, the two companies will merge technology to make the products even more effecient. Agrible will allow AB InBev to access it's product, Morning Farm Report, to enhance SmartBay. The companies will also work together on the goal of sustainability in areas like water use, land efficiency, and the carbon footprint.

Agrible and AB InBev are leaders in the market of connecting farmers with real-time data and insights straight from the field.

EnterpriseWorks hosted this years PYGHACK as a part of the Pygmalion Festival.  The goal of the PYGHACK is to bring University of Illinois students and community together in creating technology to strengthen the Champaign-Urbana community.  With over $9,000 in prizes given and over 70 participants from the University of Illinois and the Champaign-Urbana community, the 2017 PYGHACK participants created some amazing products.

The overall grand prize winner created an app called SpreadBread.  This app connects local homeless and food shelters with restaurants and stores so no food goes to waste.  Using a point based system, students and community members are rewarded for donating food.  In second place and winning the Wolfram Prize, the Safe Shepard team created the app that gives students on the University of Illinois Campus the safest and quickest route to their destination.  Safe Shepard has hopes to integrate their system with UIUC's Safe Walks system to create an even more secure campus.  The app called Dibbs won the second runner up prize.  Their app helps reduce food waste and fight hunger in the community.  One in six people in the community have insecurities about food.  Dibbs helps food pantries receive healthier food at no extra cost.  Winning the Volition Prize, the app UIUCFoodForThePeople looks at UIUC calendars and pools together events that provide free food on campus.  Finally, winning the Pixo Prize, the Movie Pool app was created to connect those wanting to carpool to local movie theatres.
