About the Data Innovation Lab
Work at the new data innovation lab will focus on exploration of emerging and disruptive data-based technologies, as well as advanced analytics technologies, demonstrated through proof of concept projects. Projects will be forward thinking and at the edge of Caterpillar’s business model. The lab is vibrant work environment designed to simulate innovating and creative thinking.
About The Role
As an Analytics Practicum, you will be immersed in our business and introduced to our analytics tools and techniques, enabling you to provide data based insights that drive business decisions. Some of the projects will involve research in:
- Video Analytics
- Analytics of Customer’s entire jobsite (L10)
- Application of new devices, sensors, and metrics
- Integration of wearables and product data
- Integration of environmental data
- Modeling of Amazon Prime “experience”
About You - Required Qualifications
- Applicants must have completed or be pursuing an BS undergraduate, or MBA, MS or PhD degree in Actuarial Science, Applied Statistics, Business Analytics, Business Intelligence & Analytics, Engineering (various), Computer Science, Economics, Informatics, Information Systems Management, Marketing Analytics, Mathematics, MBA with Technical Undergrad, Operations Research, Predictive Analytics, Quantitative & Computational Finance, Quantitative Finance, Statistics, or equivalent.
- Currently enrolled as a student at the University of Illinois, Urbana – Champaign
- Applicants must a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0/4.0 scale (no rounding)
- Experience with SAS, Python, R, SPSS, Minitab, Tableau, Hadoop, C++, C#, Java or similar tools
- Candidate must be able to provide their own laptop for day to day work
