In this role you would be working on developing the next generation Hadoop stack. Hadoop is the de-facto operating system for the worldwide cloud computing industry. Yahoo! is the birthplace of Hadoop and has the largest Hadoop install in the world. The server count has grown from a few hundreds to over 30,000. We have over 400,000 cores and that process nearly 300PB of data spread over 20 clusters.

We are looking for experienced and motivated software engineers to help us build a highly scalable and robust next generation Hadoop stack. The qualified engineer would work on one or more components of the Hadoop stack including Core (Common, Mapreduce, YARN, HDFS), Pig, HCatalog, Oozie, Hive, Hbase, and overall Hadoop performance, Qualified engineers also might work on other open source projects like Storm, Spark, and Shark helping us drive the real time and iterative use cases.

Data collected is used to make critical decisions on what Ads will be served, marketplace health, reporting, billing & payments etc.

The Advertising and Data Product team in Champaign is focused on building Data/Analytics products that provide actionable data/insights, which enable better and faster decisions for Yahoo Advertisers and Publishers. Working closely with Engineering teams, the Data & Advertising Product Managers work to break down complex Advertising initiatives into actionable data/analytics that can be surfaced to the customers. The customers of these data/analytics products range from Yahoo sciences/marketplace teams that build models to provide better ads to Yahoo users to reporting/analytics teams that provide insights to Yahoo Advertiser & Publishers.

• Lead the full product lifecycle from conception, requirements definition, through to launch.

Requirements
