Description:

John Deere Technology Innovation Center is looking for a Scrum-master / Project Manager.

JDTIC is running a significant number of mobile software development projects (and a few others) and we are looking for someone who can join our team full time and help us keep things on track.   This will be a contract/contingent position.

You will help lead diverse and geographically dispersed team comprised of full-time, part-time, interns and technology development partners.

You should have significant experience organizing and leading multiple simultaneous projects and teams using a variety of scale appropriate tools.  No detail is too small for you to chase down and no role is beneath you.  You must be comfortable dealing with ambiguous direction and the messy front end of product creation.  You are also willing to argue with the program manager when you are sure he/she is wrong!  A passion for mobile technology would also be a good thing because you will often be asked to help test what we are creating.

An ideal candidate will have some experience in an agile software development environment and/or cat herding.  We can help you learn the agile part but cat herding is something you either have or not!

We would also like you to have interest the business side of technology development.  Depending on background, interest and time, you may also play a role in helping us more deeply understand the business case that would be required to make our new concept a financial success.

Obviously, we expect that you know how to use Microsoft Office products and the ability to rapidly learn to use new tools like Rally if you don’t already know them.  You should also have at least a basic understanding of the use and operation of mobile technology.  A driver's license is also required although having a car is not.

Please send your resume along with a note telling why this opportunity excites you to Howard Gerwin at gerwinhowardr@johndeere.com.

Fast Company Spotlights SNOOZ

Research Park affiliate, SNOOZ, has captured the attention of Fast Company.

“It’s essentially a musical instrument that hums you to sleep."

Snooz is unique in that the sound is produced by real fan technology, rather than a speaker and MP3.  The machine runs on an LED bulb, making it ultra efficient.  The user has the power to adjust the tone with a simple twist of the body.

SNOOZ has far exceeded its $100K Kickstarter goal and is offering the portable white noise machine for preorder now at $59.

Company Overview:

AE Machines is building tools to allow people to design and automate machine movement initially targeting small to medium sized businesses. We aim to be the missing link that allows businesses to implement simple automation in their processes, thereby allowing them to realize the cost and efficiency gains that accompany such implementation. Initially, AE Machines will be a web-based software provider, allowing non-technical users to design and program simple machines via an intuitive user interface. The software will eliminate the need for users to know how to write ladder logic and other computer code necessary for implementing automation.
