The Research Park is excited to announce its call for proposals for its third annual Mobile Development Day, to take place on January 21, 2014 at the iHotel and Conference Center in Champaign. With an expected attendance of over 200 participants and 25 speakers, Mobile Development Day provides an opportunity for attendees to share information and network with peers about mobile development taking place in the entrepreneurial, corporate, and educational milieus in the University of Illinois, the Champaign-Urbana region, and beyond.

Proposals can be for a talk or participation in a panel discussion of a topic. Suggested topics include, but are not limited to: mobile technical development; mobile design; mobile entrepreneurship; coroporate, academic, or community mobile development; business of mobile app development; Android vs. iOS; mobile development education and careers; apps vs. websites.

Talks typically last about 45 minutes, including questions from the audience. Xerion Advanced Battery Corporation is a start-up company located in the EnterpriseWorks Building of the Research Park at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  Xerion is developing high power lithium-ion batteries that utilize nanostructured electrodes.  Xerion is currently searching for a full-time scientist or engineering intern to develop materials and processes for Li-ion batteries. 

In this position, you will develop, optimize, and maintain materials and processes required to achieve a defined goal.  Potential technical areas include slurry processes, electrochemical processes, heat treatment and battery fabrication.  The intern will also be responsible for characterization of samples throughout multistep processes.  Characterization techniques may include scanning electron microscopy, thermo gravimetric analysis, electrochemical analysis and x-ray diffraction.

The intern should be hard-working, motived to learn, interested in working in an entrepreneurial environment and have excellent organization and record keeping skills.

A B.S. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry is desired, but not required.  Prior laboratory research experience is also desired.  Availability to work full-time is desired, but availability of 20 hours per week is required.  Please contact Kevin Arpin at k.arpin@xerionbattery.com if you are interested.

• Interface with marketing to develop literature and sales tools for new products.
• Travel to customer sites and evaluate product or application problems. 
• Research and analyze competitive products.

- Research new technology and new materials.

• Identify new materials or new technologies and explore possibilities of applying to new Littelfuse products. 
• Procure samples, build prototypes, and conduct tests.
• Prepare reports and recommendations.

REQUIREMENTS

Electroninks Launches Circuit Scribe Kickstarter Campaign

Electroninks Incorporated, a startup at the EnterpriseWorks technology business incubator at the University of Illinois Research Park, today launched a Kickstarter campaign to crowdfund resources to support large-scale production of its conductive silver ink rollerball pen, the Circuit Scribe. 

Circuit Scribe is for makers of all ages, allowing users to "invent instantly." WIthin 14 hours of being live on the Kickstarter platform, Circuit Scribe had raised more than $10,000 of its $85,000 goal and has more than 200 backers. 

Electroninks Incorporated is commericalizing technology developed in the research lab of Professor Jennifer Lewis located at the University of Illinois. It has developed a non-toxic, water-based, conductive silver ink for use in rollerball pens.
