Software Engineer - Tools and Systems Integration Description:
AARP’s technology team is looking to hire a student to help develop and integrate our next generation software development and quality assurance capabilities. Students will work with highly experienced solution design, integration and quality experts from Washington DC and Lakewood California attaining valuable experiential knowledge with regards to how a fast paced software development environment optimizes its delivery practices.

Education level
Seeking junior, senior, or graduate students majoring in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems or math with minor in computer science. Additional areas of concentration include understanding and practical application of data mining/analysis, application design /architecture and agile methodologies.
Desired skills
- Must have experience with open source and Apache Tomcat.
- Java, Linux, Windows, Apache, Android or iOS SDK.
- The candidate should have a working knowledge of various software development methodologies, testing approaches, and integration/API experience.
- Adept at handling ambiguous or undefined challenges through abstract thinking
- In addition the candidate will have a curiosity of the understanding of software tools and engineering insights and the ability to research, download and prototype.
- The ideal candidate is a self-starter and will also demonstrate an affinity for:
- Effective communication – listening, verbal and written skill sets
- Presentations – Ability to read ones audience
- Collaboration – Approachable personality, but also able to draw others in to the work at hand
- High degree of self-awareness – knowledge of ones strengths and weaknesses
