About the Position

We are looking for brilliant and talented software engineers to join our rapidly growing Applications team, responsible for all of the client-facing components at Turn. You should be motivated by building high performance, web-based, enterprise applications that are used to manage hundreds of millions of dollars in digital marketing spend around the globe.

The Applications team works closely with the Product Management and User Experience teams to help design our products. We use agile methodologies with a focus on creating an exceptional customer experience.

We are mostly full stack developers with exposure to everything – back-end, front-end, and everything in between. Some projects may involve more front-end development using cutting-edge JavaScript frameworks; others will involve working on backend infrastructure APIs that interact with our data stores. In either case, the collaborative nature of the team allows you to constantly learn new things and mentor others.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science from a top tier school
  • Anywhere from 0 – 5 years of experience
  • High degree of comfort in Java or other object-oriented language
  • Experience with web-based development, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Familiarity with JavaScript and JavaScript libraries such as AngularJS
  • Knowledge of application frameworks such as Spring 3
  • Understanding of HTTP request/response lifecycle
  • Experience with database technologies
  • Keen sense of information architecture and visual design
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Motivated by writing fast, scalable code with testability in mind
  • Excited by working in a fast-paced environment

We are looking for Software Engineers to join the technical staff in our Platform Distributed Systems team. Responsibilities

  • Build distributed systems – work on improving and adding new functionality to Turn’s distributed systems backbone.
  • Scale the ad network – work on tuning and optimizing the delivery of ads in a network with thousands concurrent events, unique data scalability challenges and advanced ad selection techniques
  • Keep it running – help troubleshoot application operational issues.
  • Learn and grow – learn from local experts and expand your skills and responsibilities
  • Design and implement features evolving our online advertising and data management product offerings.
  • Develop instrumentation/profiling tools and systems.

Qualifications

  • Must be hard working, team oriented, bright, creative, cooperative, and an exceptional problem solver. And nice. We only have nice people.
  • Must be able to quickly understand technical and business requirements and be able to translate into technical implementation
  • Experience with Java, C++ or C# is a must.
  • 0-3+ years of relevant experience
  • A degree in Computer Science (preferred) or Electrical Engineering (BS) is a must.
  • Some experience with distributed systems, advanced applications building, large scale data processing or application partitioning is a must for senior positions. Relevant classes and projects is a must for junior positions.
  • Solid understanding and working knowledge of modern operating systems, networking, and/or scalability techniques.
  • Proven skills in scalability analysis and performance monitoring and measuring techniques are a must for senior positions.
  • Experience with Linux based operating systems is a plus.

Electronics Production Technician

Starfire Industries LLC has an immediate opening for a production technician to build, test and package electronics systems on our production line.  The successful candidate will have background working with PCB fabrication, including surface-mount reflow and through-hole soldering techniques, and electronics component wiring and assembly.  Strong documentation skills, ability to work under pressure, effectively communicate results and meet deadlines is a must.

Starfire is a leading manufacturer of IMPULSETM pulsed power modules for thin-film deposition systems and nGenTM compact particle accelerators for neutron generation and imaging.  We are a fast-paced, small-company atmosphere with an opportunity to work with an incredible team, contribute to multiple products in development/production and make an impact.  Starfire is located in Champaign, IL on the Research Park at the University of Illinois--and are expanding engineering and production space in 2016.  We currently have 27 employees.

Job Description

  • Perform PCB fabrication (SMT/TH), electronics wiring, assembly, integration and packaging.  Support production, customer service and RMA activities as required
  • Test, calibrate, troubleshoot (to component level) and repair electronic subassemblies and final assemblies, documenting results of tests and repairs.
  • Determine root cause of failures, working within production deadlines and deciding on the best method of repairing for in-house or field service returns.
  • Complete tasks and resolve problems in a timely manner without deviation from accepted process.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of all work. Regularly provide data for formal reports and ISO documentation of all work.  Take initiative to communicate work progress with team members.
  • Coordinate with documentation personnel to update manuals and procedures as required.

Required

  • Minimum of Associate’s Degree in Electronics (or equivalent)
  • Preferred 3+ years’ experience working with electronics systems
  • Ability to read and interpret both electronic schematics and assembly level drawings
  • Ability to work with AC, DC, analog and digital circuits and work with low, medium and high voltage circuits and proficiently use laboratory power supplies, oscilloscopes, meters, etc.

Desired

  • Experience with data acquisition (e.g. LabVIEW or other)
  • Experience with power electronics and load testing
  • Familiarity with microcontrollers, FPGA and control systems
