IntelinAir currently has an exciting opportunity for a Computer Vision Researcher to join our Research & Development team and help us launch our upcoming solution for agriculture.

Responsibilities:

•     Develop image processing algorithms for delivering actionable insights for farmers using imagery captured from drone flights;

•     Interface with scientists and software engineers to integrate the data analytics into IntelinAir’s proprietary software and deploy to cloud;

•     Interface with the product head to ensure the development of successful products.

Qualifications:

•     Strong experience with mapping, structure from motion, bundle adjustment, 3D reconstruction, visual feature extraction, and similar algorithms is desired;

•     Strong experience with image analysis, statistical analysis, deep learning (including but not limited to convolutional neural networks and similar algorithms) is desired;

•     Real-world software experience in C/C++, Python preferable under OS X or Linux;

•     Experience with geospatial, planetary, satellite, or other datasets is valuable;

•     Familiarity with cloud systems and cloud infrastructure is a plus;

•     Experience with agile software development and working with remote teams is a plus.

Modeling & Analytics Graduate Network

State Farm has developed a unique internship opportunity for graduate students at the

University of Illinois, the Modeling and Analytics Graduate Network (MAGNet). MAGNet interns apply their statistical modeling and analytic skills to a wide variety of business problems faced by the State Farm organization.

Most MAGNet interns are in the Statistics Department graduate program, but graduate students in other highly quantitative disciplines may also be considered. While participating in the MAGNet program, students are evaluated and given consideration for full time post graduate employment at State Farm offices in Bloomington, Illinois, Atlanta, Georgia, or Champaign, Illinois.

Key Responsibilities:

MAGNet interns apply their predictive modeling and data analysis skills to a variety of business problems, in many different lines of business and departments (e.g., marketing, insurance, and banking) including:

  •   Underwriting and Pricing Risk Modeling

  •   Claims Automation Predictive Modeling

  •   Sales / Growth Forecasting Econometric and Predictive Modeling

  •   Data mining applications for Claims and Competitive Analysis

  •   Evaluating new statistical methods and tools for potential use by State Farm modelers

Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Applicants must be accepted or currently enrolled in an approved graduate program at the University of Illinois

  • Statistical modeling and/or data mining

  • Data analysis and experience with database tools

  • Computer programming (especially SAS and R)

Internship Duration: May 15, 2017 to August 4, 2017

Hours & Compensation

During the summer, MAGNet interns will work 38.75 hours per week.

State Farm's Summer 2017 Research and Development Center (RDC) Internship Program provides an opportunity for full-time paid research work per week. All majors are considered for this program. However, candidate selection will be aligned with competencies/skillsets required for project work identified.

Internship Dates: Monday, May 15 - Friday, August 4, 2017

Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:30pm

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. Is seeking a design intern for its operation in the Research Park at the University of Illinois. This position reports to and is under direct supervision of the University Program Manager.

Education/Experience

·       Junior, Senior, or Master’s student in industrial design, graphic design, or similar.

·       Previous design experience – particularly web experience.

·       Experience designing various marketing materials.

·       Experience in an academic institution or a technology company is preferred.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

·       Lead design process and execution for web presence for the Champaign site and other Huawei projects as assigned.

·       Assist in designing presentations, reports and other materials.

·       Assist in designing materials for recruitment opportunities such as career fairs and networking events.  

·       Other duties as assigned.

 

Approximate hours per week: 10-15

Availability: starting as soon as possible, through spring semester.

Starfire Industries LLC has an immediate opening for a machinist with experience fabricating and assembling parts of various materials. The successful candidate will have background working with manual tooling for machining and the capacity to work in physically strenuous conditions.

Starfire is a leading manufacturer of IMPULSETM pulsed power modules for thin-film deposition systems and nGenTM compact particle accelerators for neutron generation and imaging.  We are a fast-paced, small-company atmosphere with an opportunity to work with an incredible team, contribute to multiple products in development/production and make an impact.  With 27 employees, Starfire is located in Champaign, IL on the Research Park at the University of Illinois, and is expanding engineering and production space in 2017.

Job Description:

  • Fabricate and assemble part designs of various materials efficiently and accurately, including small quantity, high precision parts according to design specifications

  • Communicate effectively and proactively with peers about working strategies and technique

  • Follow established practices for work while giving feedback for continuous improvement

  • Effectively problem solve in workholding, milling, drilling, tapping and lathe operations

  • Ability to take orders, request assistance, accept critique and be flexible in approach to fabricating one-off and challenging work


​Requirements:

·         High School degree or equivalent

·         Direct experience manual machining of stainless and aluminum alloys

·         Direct experience with manual lathe, mill, band saw, and grinding tools

  • Dexterity to assemble hardware in potentially awkward positions, ability to bend, squat, continuously stand or walk, occasionally lift 50 pounds

  • Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings

  • Knowledge of techniques and limitations of measuring tools: Calipers, micrometers, thread gages, surface plates

  • Applicants must be eligible to obtain security clearance (requires U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status).  


Desired:

  • Experience with 3D printers

  • Experience programming CNC machines

  • Experience with laser welding

  • Experience with TIG welding

Description: The Bud Lab is looking for a Technical Lead to help manage its Content Management Systems(CMS). These CMS systems support a wide variety of internal employees and community members across the globe.

  • Help manage Drupal and Salesforce Content Management Systems (CMS)
    • Actual Drupal or Salesforce experience not required, but desired
  • Upkeep basic HTML/CSS/JavaScript in the above CMS systems
  • Develop user guides and technical documentation
  • Manage large data sets of users
  • Work directly with Experiment Manager on other related technical tasks

Desirable Requirements

  • 1+ years’ experience in HTML/CSS/JS
  • Experience with Drupal, Salesforce or any other CMS package
  • Experience writing user guides and tutorial videos
  • Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Strong written and verbal English skills (Fluency)
