What You'll DoThe Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company's regular full-time staff, and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule. In this position, you will be working at John Deere's Technology Innovation Center (JDTIC) at the University of Illinois research park to support John Deere's Product Delivery Data Management initiatives. Major duties include:
- Working at John Deere's Technology Innovation Center (JDTIC) at the University of Illinois research park to support John Deere's Product Delivery Data Management initiatives
- Support data management related applications that enable Product Design and Delivery processes
- Actively participate in the design, development, testing and integration of data management applications
- Actively participate with business analysts and architects in improvement data management environments, including applications, databases and reports
What It TakesWe need excellent communicators, who thrive on solving problems and working in a team environment. Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in Geography, Earth Science, Computer Science or Statistics; others may qualify. In addition we require:
- Must be registered as a full-time student at University of Illinois
- Grad date – December 2014 or later
- Cumulative GPA of 2.8 and above
- 12 - 20 hours/week during the academic year
- 35 - 40 hours/week during the summer semester
- Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
- Knowledge of spatial data
A strong candidate will also have:
- Experience with application development environments (Java, .Net, Web Services or similar environments)
- Experience with database and query tools
- Knowledge of waterfall, iterative, agile development methodologies and information modeling
- Appreciation for information security to support Intellectual Property Protection
- Experience working virtually and using virtual toolsets
- Experience giving presentations to groups
- Willingness to gain skills in other environments
- Appreciation for engineering technology capabilities such as product modeling (ie: PTC Pro/E or Creo), design collaboration and data managemen
