The AbbVie Innovation Center is located in the Research Park at the University of Illinois and provides an opportunity for students and AbbVie’s Research and Development IT group to collaborate on projects to help advance our science. 

 

Position Description

The Part-Time Student Program at the AbbVie Innovation Center, located in the Research Park, is designed to augment AbbVie’s regular staff, and is for students who are able to work in parallel to their school schedule. Major duties include:

  • Working as part of the Technology Consulting Services team you will be trained in SharePoint as well other Collaboration technologies, to be able to gather functional requirements using standard FRS templates. 
  • Develop out of the box solutions to meet the requirements, using tools and templates to manage assignment schedule, as well as be involved in testing and later transitioning the support of the solution to the respective IT or business leads.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Must be registered as a full-time student
  • Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
  • Undergraduate and Graduate students
  • Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0, or equivalent
  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
  • 12 - 15 hours/week during the academic year
  • 35 - 40 hours/week during the summer semester
  • Junior or Senior in an Information Systems, Computer Sciences degree or similar degree
    • Has already or is planning to take Systems Analysis or Systems Design course as part of the degree program
  • Past experience working in a customer services role (i.e. Student or Faculty Computing labs)
  • Fluent in verbal and written communications
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Creative problem solver with ability to understand larger picture but who will focus on details

 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Completed Project Management coursework 

 

Note: The position will be hired through a third-party hiring agency and will begin as soon as possible over the spring semester with an option to continue into the Summer and Fall 2016.
