Translation Specialist
Summary
Common Ground Publishing, an academic publisher, based in Champaign, seeks a Translation Specialist in its Publishing Department. This contract position will translate selected journal articles or books from Spanish to English or from English to Spanish. Preference will be given to applicants with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Translation and Interpreting or a related field and with previous translation experience. Applicants should be prepared to take a test that covers their knowledge of English and Spanish.

Requirements:
- Certified in translation services
- Proficient knowledge of English and Spanish grammar
- Capable of providing a conceptual translation when working with idioms and colloquialisms, being careful to preserve the tone of the original
- Ability to work independently, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet expected deadlines
- Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite; comprehensive knowledge of Word
Responsibilities:
- Translate selected journal articles or books from Spanish to English or English to Spanish
- Correct minor spelling, grammatical, and punctuation errors in journal articles, article abstracts, and books
