Communications Assistant

Summary
Common Ground Publishing, an academic publisher, based in Champaign, seeks a part-time Communications Assistant in the Communications Department. This position will assist the Communications Associates as well as the Conference Producers with email marketing and website maintenance.

Special consideration is given to bilingual English + Spanish/Portuguese/Chinese speakers.

Position Title: Communications Assistant
Duration: Continuous
Hours: Less than 30 hours a week
Benefits Eligible: No

Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with academics and other publishing professionals who might have questions regarding attending conferences, submitting work, and submitted work 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to focus simultaneously on short- and long-term projects
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite; comprehensive knowledge of Word
  • Experience working with email marketing service
  • Proficiency in HTML desired

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain internal conference sites.
  • Build and send promotional emails
  • Maintenance and transferring of customer lists to email marketing service
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.
