Cyber Security Specialist
Location: Champaign, Chicago
Qualified candidates has strong competency in safeguarding information system assets by identifying and solving potential and actual security problems. Must have advanced knowledge and hands-on experience of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, SMTP, VoIP, and HTTP etc.) and network topologies. (e.g., Ethernet, VLAN, Wireless etc.) Knowledge of defense-in-depth methodology of network security including familiarity with subnetting, DNS, encryption technologies and standards, VPNs, VLANs, VoIP and other network routing methods. Knowledge of Firewall and VPN Management, Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDS/IPS), Web Security Gateway (WSG), Data Loss Prevention (DLP). Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and Vulnerability Management. If currently or previously attended the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, the classes we prefer include: CS 460/ECE 419 & CS461/ECE 422, &, or CS463/ECE424 or equivalent courses.
Responsibilities:
1. Recognizes problems by identifying abnormalities; reports violations
2. Implements security improvements by assessing current situation; anticipating requirements
3. Determines security violations and inefficiencies by conducting periodic audits
4. Upgrades systems by implementing and maintaining security controls.
5. Keeps relevant personnel informed by preparing reports and communicating status
6. Maintains technical knowledge by attending workshops and reviewing publications
7. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
