Electronics Production Technician
Starfire Industries LLC has an immediate opening for a production technician to build, test and package electronics systems on our production line. The successful candidate will have background working with PCB fabrication, including surface-mount reflow and through-hole soldering techniques, and electronics component wiring and assembly. Strong documentation skills, ability to work under pressure, effectively communicate results and meet deadlines is a must.
Starfire is a leading manufacturer of IMPULSETM pulsed power modules for thin-film deposition systems and nGenTM compact particle accelerators for neutron generation and imaging. We are a fast-paced, small-company atmosphere with an opportunity to work with an incredible team, contribute to multiple products in development/production and make an impact. Starfire is located in Champaign, IL on the Research Park at the University of Illinois--and are expanding engineering and production space in 2016. We currently have 27 employees.
Job Description
- Perform PCB fabrication (SMT/TH), electronics wiring, assembly, integration and packaging. Support production, customer service and RMA activities as required
- Test, calibrate, troubleshoot (to component level) and repair electronic subassemblies and final assemblies, documenting results of tests and repairs.
- Determine root cause of failures, working within production deadlines and deciding on the best method of repairing for in-house or field service returns.
- Complete tasks and resolve problems in a timely manner without deviation from accepted process.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of all work. Regularly provide data for formal reports and ISO documentation of all work. Take initiative to communicate work progress with team members.
- Coordinate with documentation personnel to update manuals and procedures as required.
Required
- Minimum of Associate’s Degree in Electronics (or equivalent)
- Preferred 3+ years’ experience working with electronics systems
- Ability to read and interpret both electronic schematics and assembly level drawings
- Ability to work with AC, DC, analog and digital circuits and work with low, medium and high voltage circuits and proficiently use laboratory power supplies, oscilloscopes, meters, etc.
Desired
- Experience with data acquisition (e.g. LabVIEW or other)
- Experience with power electronics and load testing
- Familiarity with microcontrollers, FPGA and control systems
