LifeFoundry is a startup in the University of Illinois Research Park that applies engineering tools, like industrial robots, AI, and modern control software, to develop a fully-automated robotic platform and re-invent biotech R&D.
We are looking for a software engineer to join us in this exciting journey! We are flexible on the working arrangement and other than full-time position, internship and co-op positions are available. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team on developing smart devices and advanced systems to enable novel functionalities for our robotic high-throughput biomanufacturing platform for cutting-edge biotech research.
The robotic research platform you will help build has the potential of increasing the throughput in biotech R&D by orders of magnitude, eliminating human error, and sustainably producing chemicals for a variety of applications.
Responsibilities:
- Programming different software components interacting with and supporting the robotic automation platform
- Building databases to facilitate the automated processes
Requirements:
- This position is open to students or graduates of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and related majors with junior standing or above.
- At least one year of related experience
- Proficient in Python, Database design, GIT, modular programming and testing
- Preferably skilled in OpenCV, optimization algorithms, modeling for constraint programming, robotics, AI/ML, GUI design, and software engineering background
- Excited to join a fast-paced interdisciplinary team working on a variety of challenging projects
- Self-motivated and able to work under minimal supervision
- Able to solve problems with methodical and critical thinking
