Title: JDTIC-PT Student Robotics - Applied Mathematics/Algorithms - Champaign, IL - 45821
Your Responsibilities
- As a John Deere Part Time Student - Applied Mathematics/Algorithms you will primarily focus on using applied mathematical models and algorithms in sensor signal processing, image processing, vehicle control as well as other areas in robotic systems for one of Deere's products.
- You will need to be able to define and reduce to practice, system, applied mathematics, and algorithm problems to meet the needs of specific robotics systems.
- You will work in a fun, friendly, and fast paced environment consisting of team members with various backgrounds and engineering disciplines to analyze and find conclusions around robotic sensing technologies.
- Projects are operated in the Agile environment and one will need to be able to handle multiple projects at any given time.
- You will also be required to present your findings in onsite or offsite meetings and translate your findings/data into understandable documents.
What It Takes
- Strong skills in applied mathematics and algorithms
- Proficient in statistical analysis
- Technical ability to develop software code in Python, Java or C/C++
- Technical ability to manage software configurations in GitHub
- Ability to translate objectives and theory to practical design using mathematical tools
- Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in one of the following: PhD or MS in Mathematics, Engineering Physics, or equivalent algorithm development and applied mathematics experience
- Must be registered as a full-time student at University of Illinois - Champaign
- Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
- Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
- 16 - 20 hours/week during the academic year
- 35 - 40 hours/week during the summer semester
A strong candidate will also have
