LifeFoundry is a startup in the University of Illinois Research Park that applies engineering tools, like industrial robots, AI, and modern control software, to develop a fully-automated robotic platform and re-invent biotech R&D.
We are looking for an intern, co-op, part-time or full-time robotics engineers to join us on this exciting journey! You will work closely with our team on developing applications for our industrial robots, and/or develop our own special purpose robots to improve our automation platform which performs cutting-edge biotech research at an unprecedented level.
The robotic research platform you will help build has the potential to increase the throughput in biotech R&D by orders of magnitude, eliminate human error, and sustainably produce chemicals for a variety of applications.
Responsibilities:
Develop applications for our industrial robotic arm and automated guided vehicle
Build our special purpose robots
Requirements:
Degree or student with junior standing and above in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering and related majors.
Strong personal interest and extensive experience in Robotics
Required skills: ROS, OpenCV, Python,
Preferred skills: motor control, microcontroller, machine design, 3D printing, software engineering.
Excited to join a fast-paced interdisciplinary team working on a variety of challenging projects
Self-motivated and able to work under minimal supervision
Able to solve problems with methodical and critical thinking
