The Information Analytics team is leading Caterpillar and our industry with the utilization of data analytics, innovation, digital channels and techniques to drive profit, create more efficient revenue growth, unlock new revenue streams and provide more durable competitive advantages for the business through unexpectedly great experiences for our customers.

The Analytics Professional Development Program will immerse you in our business and introduce you to our analytics tools and techniques, enabling you to provide data based insights that drive business decisions. Our smart factories and our integrated dealer network, has provided a wealth of Big Data that is mined and analyzed across various segments such as product development, manufacturing, supply chain, marketing, sales and customer support.

Analytics Professionals are the data driven, business professionals using quantitative methods such as business simulations, data mining, and advanced statistical techniques to solve problems for internal business partners and external Caterpillar customers.

Analytics Professional Development Program (APDP) classes will be held in January and July.

Work Location; Peoria, Illinois

Basic Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have completed or be pursuing an BS undergraduate, or MBA, MS or PhD degree in Actuarial Science, Applied Statistics, Business Analytics, Business Intelligence & Analytics, Engineering (various), Computer Science, Computer Science + X, Economics, Informatics, Information Systems Management, Marketing Analytics, Mathematics, MBA with Technical Undergrad, Operations Research, Predictive Analytics, Quantitative & Computational Finance, Quantitative Finance, Statistics, or equivalent.

  • Must have a minimum of two completed projects (academic or industry) with Python, R, SAS, or similar enterprise statistical tool

  • Must have a proven track record of experience with a data visualization package (Tableau, Power BI, Datawrapper, Raw, Infogram, Plotly, D3, etc.)

  • GPA of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

 

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both internally and externally, and adept at working across organizational boundaries

  • Ability to perform role of an internal consultant and present recommendations to business partners and members of the Caterpillar dealer network

  • Ability to collaborate successfully and when needed the ability to advocate their needs within the team.

  • Ability to convey and communicate their findings effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Curious, Probing and Skeptical aptitude with a willingness to experiment and dissect analytical questions in a practical and objective way.
