The AbbVie Innovation Center is located in the Research Park at the University of Illinois and provides an opportunity for students and AbbVie’s Research and Development IT group to collaborate on projects to help advance our science.
Position Description:
The Part-Time Student Program at the AbbVie Innovation Center, located in the Research Park, is designed to augment AbbVie’s regular staff, and is for students who are able to work in parallel to their school schedule. Major duties include:
• Working on process automation proof of concept projects, with a specific focus on robotic process automation, machine learning, and cognitive computing
• Analyzing the business problem and determining the best machine learning algorithm/approach to use to address the problem
• Training machine learning models and verifying the accuracy of the output
Qualifications:
• Must be registered as a full-time student
• Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
• Undergraduate and Graduate students
• Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0, or equivalent
• Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
• 10 - 15 hours/week during the academic year
• 35 - 40 hours/week during the summer semester
Preferred Skills:
• Creative problem solver with ability to understand the larger picture but who will focus on the details leading to resolution of the problem
• Familiarity with machine learning, natural language processing, artificial intelligence, data insights, R, Python
• Foundational experience with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools
Note: The position will be hired through a third-party hiring agency and will begin as soon as possible over the fall semester 2018 with an option to continue through the spring, summer 2018-2019 academic year.
