The AbbVie Innovation Center is located in the Research Park at the University of Illinois and provides an opportunity for students and AbbVie’s Research and Development IT group to collaborate on projects to help advance our science. 

Position Description

The Part-Time Student Program at the AbbVie Innovation Center, located in the Research Park, is designed to augment AbbVie’s regular staff, and is for students who are able to work in parallel to their school schedule. Major duties include:

  • Working on user-centered and small workgroup small application projects that will be utilized for proof of concepting testing
  • Developing small programs and components that will be used to demonstrate value for longer-term application

Qualifications: 

  • Must be registered as a full-time student
  • Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
  • Undergraduate and Graduate students
  • Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0, or equivalent
  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
  • 10 - 15 hours/week during the academic year
  • 35 - 40 hours/week during the summer semester
  • Must have iOS or Android development background or the ability to learn in a short period of time
  • Creative problem solver with ability to understand larger picture but who will focus on details
  • Passion for design and great user experiences
  • Familiarity with user research and usability testing methodologies to prioritize user needs to drive design priorities
  • Ability to design and deliver clean and usable user interface prototypes for desktop

Preferred Skills: 

  • Willingness to learn Pipeline Pilot (a RAD platform)
  • Mobile development
  • Web development – specifically iOS or Android
  • Familiarity with databases
