A Little About Us
Verizon Media's Advertising & Data Systems team is responsible for providing fast, clean, and relevant data for Verizon Media's advertising businesses. We are developing innovative techniques to enrich our advertiser and user experience through complex, scalable ad platforms, with ever growing and interesting challenges.
Your Day
- Contributing to technical projects working in a team environment.
- Working projects to Increase performance of our systems, automating processes, forecasting loading, implementing tools for large data set issue analysis and verification.
- Production support: troubleshoot, report, and prioritize operational issues with multiple Big Data production pipelines
- Performance Engineering: Investigating and comparing Big Data infrastructural changes for improved performance and data throughput
- Work closely with Feature development teams to create highly reliable data applications
- Automation Engineering: Improve monitoring system's scalability and standardization through automation, statistics and machine learning
- Work to ensure data security and data protection are maintained
- Act as a liaison between the different tiered support teams for operability/site-up issue escalation and monitoring
We are looking for a candidate with these skills:
- A solid Computer Science foundation in data structures and algorithms, object oriented programming, and modern software engineering practices from your achievement of obtaining a degree in CS or a similar engineering pursuit.
- Proficient in object oriented programming languages like Java, Python
- Familiar with Linux and shell scripting
- Familiar with large-scale software deployments, familiarity with Chef a plus.
- Knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem solving, multi-tasking skills
- Excellent team working capability
- Knowledge of security and data protection concepts.
- Familiar with Hadoop, Storm
- Familiar with monitoring applications like Nagios/Netcool/Moog
