The AbbVie Innovation Center is located in the Research Park at the University of Illinois and provides an opportunity for students and AbbVie’s Research and Development IT group to collaborate on projects to help advance our science.
Position Description:
The Part-Time Student Program at the AbbVie Innovation Center, located in the Research Park, is designed to augment AbbVie’s regular staff, and is for students who are able to work in parallel to their school schedule. Major duties include:
• Creating internally facing blog posts, white papers, web pages and other materials that illustrate AbbVie technology initiatives
• Developing programs for ongoing communication and employee engagement for emerging technology work
Qualifications:
• Must be registered as a full-time student
• Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
• Undergraduate and Graduate students
• Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0, or equivalent
• Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
• 10 - 15 hours/week during the academic year
• 35 - 40 hours/week during the summer semester
• Creative problem solver with ability to understand larger picture but who will focus on details
• Passion for design and great user experiences
• Clear and compelling writer. Able to learn quickly and turn “geek speak” into fresh and exciting articles
• Sharp editing skills. Able to take baseline technical material and polish it into clear text for internal publishing
Preferred Skills:
• Business and social media writing
• MLA or APA standards for editing
• Collaborative authoring and editing
• Some familiarity with wiki and web page development and publication
Note: The position will be hired through a third-party hiring agency and will begin as soon as possible over the fall semester 2019 with an option to continue through 2019-2020 academic year and summer 2020.
