The AbbVie Innovation Center is located in the Research Park at the University of Illinois and provides an opportunity for students and AbbVie’s Research and Development IT group to collaborate on projects to help advance our science.

Position Description:
The Part-Time Student Program at the AbbVie Innovation Center, located in the Research Park, is designed to augment AbbVie’s regular staff, and is for students who are able to work in parallel to their school schedule. Major duties include:
• Working with digital health team to assess the feasibility and develop a software algorithms that can effectively perform the output conversation for step counts, physical activity (PA) and rest period specifically between a research-grade device and a consumer-grade device.

Qualifications:
• Must be registered as a full-time student
• Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
• Graduate students (PhD. candidate or post-doc)
• Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0, or equivalent
• Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
• 10 - 15 hours/week during the academic year
• 35 - 40 hours/week during the summer semester
• Physics or engineering or advanced analytics background
• Demonstrate the ability to construct a problem-solving framework, detail-oriented in documentation
• Experienced in sensor signal processing, particularly with familiarity in the triaxial data, gyroscope
• Software skills – R, Python
• Familiarity with databases
• Communication skills – verbal, written, report, publication
• Ability to produce detail documentations throughout the projects.
Additional Skills desired but not required:
• Willing to learn MedLab, SAS statistics, modeling, sample size estimating,
• Timeliness, Self-motivated

Note: The position will be hired through a third-party hiring agency and will begin as soon as possible over the fall semester 2019 with an option to continue through the 2019-2020 academic year and summer.
