What You’ll Do
The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company's regular full-time staff, and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule. Major duties include:
- Working at John Deere's Technology Innovation Center (JDTIC) at the University of Illinois research park to support John Deere's information management and analytic initiatives
- Providing Corporate business consulting for analytic data (including geospatial data), analytics and business intelligence using applications like ArcMap, Tableau, SAS, Statistica and R
- Performing guided analytics, dashboards and report design/customizations of low to medium complexity
- Analyzing data and information to build/improve business processes
- Investigate, research and manage acquisition of new and meaningful data sources for analytics
- Acting as a member of various project teams within Global Analytic Services to build business solutions
What It Takes
We need excellent communicators, who thrive on solving problems and working in a team environment. Ideally you will be at least in Sophomore standing or greater pursuing at least a BS in Computer Science or MS in Statistics or related field. In addition we require:
- Must be registered as a full-time student
- Grad date – December 2014 or later
- Cumulative GPA of 2.8 and above
- 15 - 20 hours/week during the academic year
- 35 - 40 hours/week during the summer semester
- Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
A strong candidate will also have:
- Understanding of data structures, database and data management
- Software programming skills necessary to formulate queries and to create simple applications
- Ability/Desire to work independently and as a member of a team
- Experience with analytic tools such as R, SAS, Statistica, MiniTab or SPSS and visualization tools such as Tableau, Business
- Experience with database and query tools like MS Access or SQL
