Akuna Capital is a fast-growing derivatives trading firm headquartered in downtown Chicago that specializes in market-making and arbitrage. Founded in 2011, Akuna has quickly grown from a start-up to a successful leader on US options and futures exchanges that has already begun international expansion. In July of 2013 Akuna opened a dedicated technology office in the Research Park of the University of Illinois. The office houses a blend of full-time developers and student interns working on Akuna’s mission-critical systems.
We are seeking a motivated individual to assist across multiple business units at Akuna. This person will gain exposure to our Recruitment, Campus Engagement and Marketing efforts while assisting with various activities including recruiting events, tech talks, and helping promote the company through social media. Along with general office management tasks, they will also be responsible for planning and coordinating extracurricular activities for the office and assisting with new hire on-boarding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote Akuna to University officials including professors, career development representatives and other faculty through meetings and other networking events if and when applicable
- Grow our social media presence by promoting and photographing company events
- Attend group presentations and other campus events to promote Akuna
- Coordinate logistics for campus recruiting events and tech talks
- Liaise with Chicago Office Coordinator in scheduling employee and intern office visits
- Support company events by planning and coordinating extracurricular activities
- Provide assistance with meeting scheduling, meal planning and occasional miscellaneous errands
- General office and light kitchen maintenance, restocking office and kitchen supplies
- Manage receiving, opening, distribution and sending of mail and shipping
Job Requirements:
- Pursuing a degree in Business, Communications, Marketing or related field
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate Akuna’s message in front of a large audience if required
- Marketing knowledge and project management skills preferred but not required
- Strong networking and interpersonal skills
- Professional and reliable with the ability to multitask and to prioritize responsibilities
- Must be self-motivated, organized and detail oriented
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook
- Personal transportation preferred but not required
- Available 10 to 15 hours per week during fall and spring semesters, and available full time during the summer
