Forcepoint is seeking a qualified project manager/business analyst responsible for leading project activities for product implementation, working closely with stakeholders across the organization to deliver on-time and high quality software products that align with business goals. The candidate will support the company’s strategy to develop an improved project management process and implement the tactics associated with that philosophy and vision. The candidate will serve as a primary liaison between product management and engineering and be experienced in managing all aspects of project planning, execution, funding, and customer satisfaction.

The project manager/business analyst will be expected to develop schedules, illicit and develop software system requirements, identify and mitigate risks, collaborate with key stakeholders, and execute multiple projects in accordance with the terms and conditions of that project. This position is located in the Forcepoint - Champaign, IL design center.


Responsibilities Include

  • Provide routine status and project reports to project stakeholders including product management, senior management, engineering and co-workers as required.

  • Responsible for definition, documentation, and management of strategic, operational, and technology projects.

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of project plans and schedules.

  • Develop project document deliverables such as software system requirements, accreditation documentation, release notes, etc.

  • Provide process gap analysis and develop proposals to remedy gaps.

  • Manage all aspects of the software development lifecycle using JIRA and Confluence.

  • Remain current in Project Management best practices and IT technology.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of five years of experience in project management and two in software project management is required.

  • Project Management experience must include using planning, scheduling and documenting tools including Atlassian software.

  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience writing software requirements.

  • Must be capable of leading and successfully working with individuals from different disciplines and experience levels.

  • Qualified applicants may be subject to a security investigation and must meet minimum qualifications for access to classified information. U.S. Citizenship is required.

  • Desired Skills:

  • Experience working on government contracts preferred.        

  • Experience leading software projects using Agile and Scrum methodologies.

  • PMP certification is desired.

  • US citizenship is required.

Educational Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Systems Management, or other related field is required. Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

  • Experience working on government contracts preferred.

  • PMP certification is desired.

STEMx
You are invited to represent your company by participating in this year's STEM Explorers (STEMx) Event.
Why: Engineering Council, the umbrella organization that organizes events like Engineering Open House, Engineering EXPO, and others, seeks to engage youth interested in STEM fields and encourage them to continue their pursuit of careers in these fields.
What: STEMx is a full-day community outreach event filled with workshops and student interaction.

Revolutionizing Cast Design Student startup now in EnterpriseWorks

CHAMPAIGN -- CAST21 has moved from a student startup to now an EnterpriseWorks tenant. Engineering at Illinois has written about CAST21's journey by introducing the team of CEOs: Ashley Moy, Justin Brooks and Jason Troutner that work towards building medical casts for the 21st century. These casts are said to be waterproof and also have "access to the affected area for treatment and comfort." The cast is in the process of being tested by athletic trainers and doctors in sports medicine. The team is hoping to "go through a design freeze in the coming months."

Veriflow Systems, EnterpriseWorks Tenant, Selected as Chicago Innovation Awards Finalist

CHAMPAIGN -- Veriflow was announced as a finalist for the 15th annual Chicago Innovation Awards. The Chicago Innovation Awards is the largest annual celebration of innovation in the Midwest. Chicago’s business and civic leaders come together to honor the Chicago region by recognizing the most innovative new products and services introduced in the region. There were 100 companies selected as finalists out of the 643 applicants.

Each of the 100 finalists are in the running for the "People's Choice Award," and you are able to vote for Veriflow here by October 6 (winners announced on October 25).

Adam Hecktman Impressed with Innovation and Science at Research Park

CHAMPAIGN -- Adam Hecktman, Microsoft's Director of Technology & Civic Innovation for Chicago, visited Research Park last week. After a guided tour with the director Laura Frerichs, Hecktman was very impressed with the space and innovation filling it.

Hecktman was able to meet with several corportate companies and startups, including: TEST, AE Machines, Ringr, Quicket Solutions, Soil Diagnostics, and Granular.

Golparvar uses various visual methods such as drone cameras, to monitor progress and predict problems at the McCormick Place Project in Chicago. He is striving to provide teams with "access to actionable data analytics they can use to tap off delays before they happen at their site." His goal is to revise the plan before issues occur.

We have an opening for a senior software engineer at Jump Labs in Champaign. Primary responsibilities will be software design and development on software projects at Jump Labs, including our in-house trading platform. Additional responsibilities include teaching/mentoring undergraduate and graduate student interns and interfacing with software development teams at other offices of Jump Trading.

What you'll do:

  • Work with the Jump Labs team on large-scale, real-time distributed systems software. ·       Bootstrap projects from scratch; and turn ideas into prototypes and production;

Requirements:

·       M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science (CS), Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), or related fields

·       Expertise in one or more of the following areas:

·       Programming tools, with experience in a relevant area such as program analysis tools, software verification, software engineering tools, automation tools;

·       Performance analysis & optimization, via experience in a relevant area, such as performance modeling, diagnosis tools, parallel software development, or processor or system simulator development;

·       Strong software development skills, proficiency in software engineering techniques and methodologies.

·       Fluency in C/C++/Java programming

Nice to haves:

·       Because we develop programming technology for a variety of purposes, competence in a breadth of programming paradigms is a plus, such as imperative and functional programming, formal specifications and assembly code;

Futurewei’s Big Data team in Santa Clara is looking for a data science intern who has knowledge in deep learning, machine learning, applied statistics, and related domains.
