The AbbVie Innovation Center is located in the Research Park at the University of Illinois and provides an opportunity for students and AbbVie’s Research and Development IT group to collaborate on projects to help advance our science.
Position Description:
The Part-Time Student Program at the AbbVie Innovation Center, located in the Research Park, is designed to augment AbbVie’s regular staff, and is for students who are able to work in parallel to their school schedule. Major duties include:
- Learning how to work with teams across the globe, troubleshooting issues based on the time zone they occur.
- Working to onboard teams into Atlassian Suite. Jira/Confluence/Bitbucket
- Developing process to manage up to 2,000 users on the platform.
- Finding ways to automate all aspects of managing Jira.
- Learning new ways to leverage the Atlassian Suite for AbbVie.
Qualifications:
- Must be registered as a full-time student
- Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
- Undergraduate and Graduate students
- Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0, or equivalent
- Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
- 10 - 15 hours/week during the academic year
- 35 - 40 hours/week during the summer semester
- Creative problem solver with ability to understand larger picture but who will focus on details
- Passion for design and great user experiences
- Familiarity with project management tools
- Ability to work within a team promoting project management.
Preferred Skills:
- Willingness to learn agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
- Familiarity with databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL)
- Web development
- Some Linux experience
Note: The position will be hired through a third-party hiring agency and will begin as soon as possible over the spring semester 2019 through the summer and potentail to stay through 2019-2020 academic year.
