Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Mobile Developer, working at John Deere’s Innovation Center in Champaign, IL, you will have a front row seat to the digital farming revolution. You will work on projects with complex software challenges that help deliver a “connected experience” for John Deere’s customers. We are looking for individuals who enjoy tackling tough problems in a creative way. If you’re passionate about making our farmers more productive through mobile technologies, we’d like to talk with you.  In this role you will:

  • Work as a highly skilled Agile software development team working closely with other team members to ensure the success of our innovative products.
  • Write production code that improves the efficiency of our customer's equipment.
  • Work closely with Software Development Engineers in Test (SDETs) and Product Owners (POs).
  • Build software in an environment that fosters a "culture of speed".
  • Work on apps like Connect Mobile and Harvest Mobile.

What Skills You Need

  • Five or more years of professional software development.
  • Experience in roles that required a strong understanding of system and application performance characteristics.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skill and sharp analytical abilities.
  • Demonstrated design skills.
  • Proficiency in, at least, one modern programming language such as C, C++, C#, Python, or Java.

What Makes You Stand Out 

Other areas of experience or interest that will help us place you on the right team include:

  • Experience developing a mobile app with either Android or iOS that demonstrates a strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and asynchronous architectures.
  • Native iOS development in Objective C/Swift.
  • Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

Education

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:

Qualifications:

On July 17, Crain's Tech 50 of 2017 was published and includes 5 University of Illinois Alum who are making big waves in the tech community in Chicago. This is the seventh annual list of founders, CEO's, coders, hackers, investors and other brilliant minds. 

Among the Alum named is Craig Vodnik. 

Craig Vodnik is an Entrepreneur-In-Residence at EnterpriseWorks and he helps to support young startup entrepreneurs with their business ventures by giving them advice about business strategy and growth experience. He is the Co-Founder of Cleverbridge, which is a company that makes e-commerce software that powers digital shopping carts for companies like Sony and Dell. He has a BS in Nuclear Engineering from the University. 

Also listed is Jeff Carter, who launched Hyde Park Angles and his own venture fund, West Loop Ventures. Carter has been to Research Park to speak and give a presentation on how he became a successful business man.

Inprentus Contracts with China's Soochow University

Inprentus, a recent EnterpriseWorks graduate, has been selected to supply their custom diffraction gratings to Soochow University in Hefei, Anhui Province. China. The gratings will be used at China's National Synchrotron Radiation Labratory. 

Founded in 2012, Inprentus was founded by University of Illinois Physics Professor Peter Abbramonte. Inprentus manufactures ultrahigh precision diffraction gratings for x-ray applications. The technology is a novel, duel-atomic-force microscope-based mechanical lithography method that allows high-precision patterning with nanometer precision over areas of ~10 cm squared or greater, and it particularly well suited for fabricating diffractive optics.

Job Title: Grain Purchaser / Merchandiser

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain relationships with grain suppliers in the U.S. as appropriate to ensure a consistent, stable, supply of corn.
  • Purchase the required amount of grain at the best possible price, taking into consideration quality, grain type and logistics.
  • Gather, analyze, centrally organize and communicate to Japan information on the trends in the U.S. corn market.
  • Oversee the contracts required for grain purchases.
  • Coordinate, arrange and oversee all storage and transportation of purchased corn from the point of origin to delivery in Japan.
  • Maintain accurate records related to the purchasing and transporting of corn.
  • Arrange and track appropriate insurance as needed during storage and transportation.

Skills:

Therapalz's Isak Massman is featured on News-Gazette's Wired In

Isak Massman

Isak Massman, co-founder of Therapalz, was spotlighted in the News-Gazette's Wired-In Series for high-tech difference makers in the Champaign-Urbana community. 

Therapalz is a startup that is working out of the iVenture Accelerator that is located in EnterpriseWorks at Research Park. iVenture provides the start-up with work space, mentors and workshops.

The start-up is creating theraputic stuffed animals that are robatic that aid in comforting and providing companionship to individuals who have Alzheimers and dementia, as well as children who are on the autism spectrum or have related disorders. The stuffed animal is able to vibrate and mimick a heartbeat that calms and comforts those who pet it. 

Therapalz also just recently won the St. Louis University's "Real" Elevator Pitch Competition, and was awarded $2,500. They were also named one of the "10 Illinois student start-ups set to make moves by 2017" by ChicagoInno.

On Wednesday, July 19, 2017 Research Park hosted its annual Table Tennis Tournament. The competition this year was fierce, and fun was had by all who attended. After hours of intense Table Tennis play, Yahoo! emerged victorious as a company once again.
