Position Summary: We are seeking a University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) student to support a project defining and describing chemistry of traditional and novel sterilization modalities with important materials used in medical devices. (i.e. vascular scaffolds, flash glucose monitors, IOLs). The student will work with industry leading scientists and engineers developing next generation sterilization technology solutions for difficult to sterilize high-value medical devices.

The Student Will Be Responsible For: 

  • Partnering with and advising Abbott staff members and scientists

  • Defining and describing chemistry of sterilization modalities with important materials

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled as a student at UIUC

  • Pursuing a MS, or PhD degree in Chemistry or related field

  • Able to work independently as well as collaborate effectively in a team environment

  • Self-motivated problem solver that can lead a project from beginning to end

  • Excellent verbal/written English language skills

Position Start Date: Late May/early June to August 2016; potential to continue through Fall 2016
