IntelinAir's founder Naira Hovakimyan was recognized for her success and innovation in a special section of MechSE Illinois, called "Robotics in MechSE." In 2016, IntelinAir won the AgFunder Innovation Award and was also listed as one of five agriculture technology companies for the "Most Innovative U.S. Pre-Series A Startups."

IntelinAir is an aerial imagery analytics company that uses drones to develop ground-breaking algorithims and novel solutions to farming challenges. The challenges that farmers often face are weather-related issues, insects, and nutrient damage on plants. All these challenges, if not dealt with properly, can lead monetary losses for the farmers.

IntelinAir has produced many breakthroughs in the ag-tech field. One of these breakthroughs include its product, AG-MRI, which is a field health monitoring system that allows farmers to proactively oversee how their crops are doing.

According to Hovakimyan, going forward, IntelinAir will continue working toward the efforts of helping farmers advance their ability to identify the causes of crop damage and combine data further with data anaylsis.

IntelinAir is paving the path in the digital agriculture revolution. "We are building the industry, and we are one of the leaders. I want our goal as a Midwestern agriculture company to be of benefit to the state and its economy" said Hovakimyan.

University of Illinois Ranked #25 of World's Most Innovative Universities

Category:

Every year Rueters ranks the world's most innovative universities. The 2017 ranking was just released, and the University of Illinois was ranked #25 out of all the universities in the world for innovativeness.

While the University system is composed of the three campuses at Urbana-Champaign, Springfield, and Chicago, reasons for this high ranking include collaborations with the award winning Research Park. Research Park has attracted more than 100 leading companies who partner in technology-based business development. EnterpriseWorks is listed as a source of the innovation on the Urbana-Champaign campus, as it is home to faculty-research based and student startups and gives them the resources they need to become successful companies that are able to 'graduate' from the incubator.

The University of Illinois is also working on collaborations with said leading companies. For example, the University just announced collaboration with Caterpillar Inc, which has a data innovation lab and simulation center in the park. Students and University researchers will work with Caterpillar teams to explore and expand on new technologies.

September 29, 2017: Indigo Agriculture, an ag-tech startup that began in Massachusetts, is opening an office in Research Park to add to the growing number of ag-tech companies in the park.

Indigo Agriculture treats the seeds of America's most important cash crops so they become more disease resistant. It treats the seeds with a combination of naturally occuring bacteria and fungi that are already found in plants. This treatment makes it so that farmers have a better chance at producing disease-free crops that can ward off the harmful effects of drought, poor soil, and pestilence.

Investor enthusiasm is growing fast, as the company announced on Tuesday that it had raised $156 million, giving the company a valuation of $1.4 billion.
